Rembering

Once again, we spend today remembering what happened eighteen years ago.  The day our country was attacked by terrorists. The day when so many people died. Do you remember where you were that day? Do you remember what you were doing?

I was at work. Just getting started in a meeting, and someone came and told us a plane had hit one of the towers.  By the time the meeting had ended, another plane hit the other tower.  Working in a mental health clinic, there was no time to sit down and watch the news.  So for the rest of the week, I would go home and watch the footage.

Watching the footage again last night, for the first time I was able to listen to the President at that time. He told of his feelings, decisions that were made. The decision that most surprises me is that he felt the need to go back to the White House to take care of our country.

For a while, we as a nation was united. There were no races, no politics, no threats, no divisions.  Just American citizens mourning the death of so many people.  Everyone questioning the motive.  Racing to find ways to protect people while traveling.  Looking for answers.

There have been so many positive changes in our country.  But unfortunately, there have also been numerous negative changes.  We are no longer united as a nation.  Our freedoms are slowly being taken away.

How should we respond to these changes?  The most positive change anyone can make is to give their hearts and lives to Christ.  Come to Him and ask forgiveness of your sins. One day, the Lord will take us out of this sinful world to a world of glory, beauty, eternal life.  This is one change you don't want to miss.

If you have become complacent with your walk in the Lord, please return to Him.  He will give you the strength and peace to continue serving Him. For those whose loved ones died eighteen years, I pray that you will have peace and answers in your heart.  It is also my prayer that as a nation, we'll return to our Lord and Savior.
